Lake Eufaula OK: Naturalist Activity May Program

May is a delightful month to get your kids involved in the Naturalist Activity Program at Deep Fork Nature Center. Children under the age of ten need to be assisted by an adult during the event.

The center is located at Lake Eufaula State Park. Hours are from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursdays through Saturdays.

Friday, May 3rd - Cherokee Windchimes - Make your own and learn the legend of the wind chimes. $2 materials fee.

Saturday, May 4th - Stained Glass Stepping Stones – Make your own stepping-stone to put in your garden. $8.00 materials fee.

Friday, May 10th - Nature Center Word Puzzle - See how many words you can find.

Saturday, May 11th - Dutch Oven Cooking – Learn to cook over an open fire the way your ancestors did. $12.00 materials fee. 10 am

Friday, May 17th - Nature Hike - Let’s hike the Arrow Maker Trail, a ¾ mile trail named for the many dogwood trees that grow in that area. Find out why it was named after a tree. Meet at the Arrow Maker Trail head in the Dogwood Drive Campground.

Saturday, May 18th – Forever Flower – Decorate 2 garden flowers your way to brighten everyone’s day when they look into your garden. $5 materials fee.

Friday, May 24th - Hummingbird Feeders – The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are here and hungry. You can paint your own hummingbird feeder that will bring those hummingbirds to you. $3.00

Saturday, May 25th - Dirt Babies – What’s a dirt baby, you ask? You might say it’s a homemade chia pet, complete with a pacifier. $2.00 materials fee.

Movie Night – Come to the amphitheater in the Deep Fork Campground and watch a kid-friendly movie. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Support the nature center and buy a bag of popcorn for $1.00 (Weather permitting) STARTS AT DARK

Sunday, May 26th - Beadie Critters – Skunks, dragonflies, mice, spiders, lizards, bees and much, much more! Wearable art with a nature twist! $2.00 materials fee.

Monday, May 27th - Karaoke – Come to the Deep Fork Amphitheater in the Deep Fork Campground and show us your stuff. 11am to 3pm
