Labor Day Weekend Activities & Events At Deep Fork Nature Center


Come and join the Labor Day weekend activities and events at Deep Fork Nature Center! The events will include making a variety of nature crafts. The center is located at 111563 OK SH-150 in Checotah, Oklahoma near Lake Eufaula Ok.


Here is a list of the planned holiday events:


Friday, August 30th - Snakeskin candle holders - $4.00 materials fee


Saturday, August 31st - A Naturalist’s Sketchbook – $4.00 materials fee


Movie Night – Come to the amphitheater in the Deep Fork Campground and watch a kid-friendly movie. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Support the nature center and buy a bag of popcorn for $1.00 (weather permitting).


Sunday, September 1st - Friendship Sticks - $2 materials fee


Monday, September 2nd


Frisbie Annual Youth Fishing Derby – Meet at the Kid’s Fish Out Pond at the south entrance to Longhorn Loop. Free to youth ages 12 and under. Parents will help bait and unhook the fish. This is a catch and release event.


8:30 am – Registration for the fishing derby


9:00 am to 10:30 am – Fishing time


10:30 am to 11 am – Awards and prizes


11:00 am – Free lunch (hot dogs, chips, drink)
